God’s TLC – Tender Loving Care
Episode 41 | God’s TLC – Tender Loving Care.
Greetings, my name is Ron Brown. Welcome to the Weekly Word. Our theme this year is, Always Pray.
I hope this message is a blessing to you. Now, let’s get into the Word of God.
This week’s message is God’s TLC – Tender Loving Care.
Psalm 23: 1-6 “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
We live in turbulent times when it seems like nothing is stable. But we must remember, that we’ve received a kingdom that cannot be shaken according to Hebrews Chapter 12. The foundation of this great kingdom that we are birthed into by the Spirit of God, is made up of the forever settled Word of God. God’s word contains the pillars of His justice, mercy, grace, and love. As members of the family of God and citizens of His kingdom, He takes very good care of us, and He’s attentive to all of our needs. This Psalm gives us powerful encouragement as King David lists the ways God demonstrates His great care for us. As our Great Shepherd King, He attends to our every need, so we lack for no good thing. Jesus reminds us in Matthew Chapter 6 to take no worry about our lives, what we will eat or drink, what we will wear, because our Heavenly Father has placed a great premium on our lives. So, we’re not to worry about these kinds of things because He will see to it, that all is supplied.
The psalmist goes on in this passage to reveal that in the midst of all the rapidly changing dynamics of the world around us, that the Lord beckons us to come to Him, and find rest for our souls in the peaceful repose of fellowship with Him. He leads us like sheep―not to a roaring waterfall, but to calm waters of peace—so that we can drink deeply from His faithfulness and love. And as we drink of His goodness, we are saturated and made content. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy Chapter 6 that Godliness, with contentment is great gain. As we continue to look at this amazing Psalm of care, we find that our Lord guides us on the path of life, so we can successfully navigate all the different kinds of terrain we must walk on. Sometimes the path is filled with stones, or perhaps slippery from the morning dew, or maybe bumpy or uneven from the way we have been treated, but He guides us along when the skies are dark and threatening. He lights the way through His love which casts out all fear. He protects us from any and all strategies of the evil one, and He gives us great comfort in His loving embrace. And in the presence of the fierce battles of this life, He stops everything and prepares a table of comfort food for our strength, so we can courageously be enjoined once again in the fight of faith.
Oh, thank God for the refreshing oil of His spirit to illuminate our minds and empower our witness for Him―the true Savior of our souls. From the overflow of our grace-filled hearts, we are able to carry on His goodness and love to everyone around us. We start with the household of faith and then we carry His message of faith, hope, and love to the world. Be encouraged dear servants of the Lord, that God’s care is tender, powerful, and complete.
Let us pray. Lord, thank You for Your great care and love that You bring just at the right measure when we need it. You bring comfort, You bring correction, and You bring courage. Lord, we are grateful, and
we are blessed beyond measure because You are our Shepherd King. In Jesus mighty name, Amen and Amen.
